Willamette Week is confirming that Terroir, the restaurant at the center of all the plagiarism allegations of the last week, has definitely closed.
Owner Stu Stein has not returned calls from the WW, but I have a statement from his former publicist, Andrea Courtney of Randall PR, who wishes to emphasize that Randall PR is definitely Terroir's ex-PR firm...and that any plagiarized materials on the Terroir website were not written by Randall PR:
[W]e were not aware of the status of Terroir’s operations as we had ceased representation of Terroir in late '07. As an added note, we did not work on the publicity of his 2004 book The Sustainable Kitchen (that was another PR firm) and Stu Stein handled the copy for his website personally.

I'm loving the headline on the blog:
Reign of Terroir, Over.

So this is what happens when I leave town for a week...oh well. I have to admit I'd never gone there and after hearing about their website I never would anyway.
