Food Dude, the mysterious dude (or dudette) behind the blog Portland Food & Drink, has more information* about the sweet savage sustainable case of website plagiarism which I wrote about earlier today...including a link to the excellent San Francisco Chronicle restaurant critic Michael Bauer, who found words from one of his reviews somehow repeated verbatim as the thoughts of a Portland restaurateur.
Adds Food Dude:
We’ve also had inquiries from national newspapers and magazines. The story has taken on a life of its own.
More to come? Probably.
*(The Food Dude refers to me as "famous for his caustic words when it comes to journalism." I'd certainly disagree with both the fame and the causticity...but would have to concede that "straight-shooting" and "caustic" are virtually synonymous in the timorous Portland media world. In what other city would the [now-former] managing editor of a weekly paper pen a rave review of a restaurant that hadn't even opened when he wrote it -- and then claim "The original text got a little changed in the editing process...The future tense was supposed to be there"?)
