The Oregonian says YES!
(...though the threat seems to pale in comparison to Van Halen's "hard-rockin' reunion"....)
Representing the other side: Mark Nelsen of KPTV, who says NO:
This is an abnormally early post...but a needed one. The Oregonian published what I would consider a misleading article this morning titled "MONSTER STORM HEADING OUR WAY". From what we've heard here in the newsroom (along with my voicemail), it has caused some folks to panic a bit. We've even heard of someone going to a hardware store looking for plywood to board up their windows with...in the metro area!
Who's right? Who knows? Board up your windows and check back Monday...if we're still alive.
Will it be a class 5 killstorm? As a precaution I've moved the bikes on the balcony to the other side, mainly so they won't blow over.
I feel like I should make a run on Fred Meyer and load up on eggs, milk and bread like they do ahead of hurricanes (the first thing that seems to fly off shelves). French toast for all!

The best part is, now we'll all have to think of reasons why we should rebuild Portland after its over. Being built in the shadow of a volcano and all, and susceptible to death storms like this, who would ever have built here?

Oh my God! There were so many things I had not yet done in my young life. I missed out on so much. I guess I better have a lot of fun on Saturday before the winds start howling death on Sunday! And I guess I better go to church on Sunday for that matter!
