This weekend, I'm in Covington (an hour north of New Orleans), where my play Babydaddy will be performed as part of the St. Tammany National One-Act Play Festival in honor of Walker Percy (that's the official title).
The Times-Picayune says:
Four one-act plays were chosen from national submissions and will be presented to the public, each followed by a critique by a panel of theater professionals and an audience question-and-answer session with the playwrights, who all will be in attendance.
"A critique by a panel of theater professionals." Zoinks.
Edited to add: I had visions of standing up onstage (metaphorically) naked like some schlub on American Idol, but judging from the judging at last night's opening, the process is a lot more constructive -- and helpful -- than that. No Simon Cowells here.
"A critique by a panel of theater professionals..." In St. Tammany Parish?!
